The Cat Road is located on a cliff in the Huguan Grand Canyon in Shanxi Province. Locals call it a road that cannot be walked after dark. It was the main road for ancient people to go to Ewu Township on the top of the mountain. It was called the Cat Road because of its difficult road. Today, although the two roads leading to Ewu have long been built, this ancient road is still the favorite crossing route for outdoor hikers.
Day 1: Hometown - Bridge - Cat Road - Natural Bridge - Goose House, Overnight at Goose House
Maolu is a stairway winding up the cliff. Originally, this road was a narrow goat path used by mountain people. In 1979, Ewu People's Commune and Qiaoshang People's Commune initiated road construction at the same time, working in parallel to turn the original goat path into a stairway that people can walk on while carrying loads.
Tiansheng Bridge is one of the unique landscapes in the Taihang Mountain Grand Canyon. It is located south of Maolu and on the top of Yinggu Mountain. It is the largest natural stone arch bridge found in northern China so far. The bridge spans between two dangerous cliffs in the north and south, with a span of 50 meters, a height of 200 meters, a width of 5 meters, and a thickness of more than 10 meters. It is in the shape of a natural stone arch bridge. From a distance, it looks like a huge mountain gate. Its shape and structure are similar to those of artificial brick and stone arch bridges in ancient and modern times, both at home and abroad. It is truly a wonder of the world created by nature .
Natural Bridge is a product of karst landform. This is an area where limestone is widely distributed. Nature has formed many caves here. After billions of years of weathering and disintegration, these caves finally collapsed. However, there are also special caves where the surrounding areas have collapsed, leaving only the ceiling, thus forming the so-called "Natural Bridge".
Day 2: Ewu-Shijiabei Village-Wanfo Temple-Yinggu Gorge
Wanfo Temple: Actually, it is a small wild temple with no abbot. It is built on the top of a small lonely hill, surrounded by cliffs, giving it a mysterious feeling of immortality. When viewed from the top of the next hill, the small temple gives people the impression that it is a land temple transformed from the tail of Sun Wukong.
It is said that the history of Wanfo Temple can be traced back to the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty. The original temple was built under the cliff on the side of the mountain. The mountain was dug into caves and many statues were carved. Later, it was destroyed by war. There is only one cave left at the original site, which contains three statues. Because the cave is in mid-air, it is unknown whether the statues are historical relics or added by later generations. The current small temple was rebuilt in a different place, a few hundred meters away from the cliff. The year when the small temple was built is no longer known.
This temple is called the Temple of Ten Thousand Buddhas, and it is worthy of its name. There are many kinds of gods and Buddhas enshrined in the temple, including Buddha, Guanyin, God of Wealth, God of Land, Dragon King, Maitreya, Big Belly Arhat, Medicine King, and so many others that it is hard to count them all. The craftsmanship of various statues varies greatly. Some are carved, some are made of plaster molds, and some are handmade with clay, but the craftsmanship is generally poor. Many of the small Buddha statues inlaid on the walls of the main hall have been damaged, and the craftsmanship of later generations is obviously not as good as the original, which inevitably makes people think that they are just adding a tail to a tiger. To get to the top level of the small temple, you need to drill through a narrow stone crack, which is difficult for a fat man to get through.
Yinggu Gorge: Some people say that this place has the same "beauty" as Zhangjiajie; some people say that this place is as unearthly as the Stone Forest in Yunnan; others say that even though it is not as precipitous as Mount Huashan or as majestic as Mount Huangshan, it still hides shocking natural scenery.
Yinggu Gorge is located in the Grand Canyon of Taihang Mountain in Huguan, Shanxi. Because it has not been developed yet, the mountains and rivers are full of primitive flavor. Natural carvings have created towering peaks, clear lakes and waterfalls for Yinggu Gorge, which is like a paradise. Many travelers who enjoy nature come here, walk on the cat road, go up the natural bridge, enter the Wanfo Temple, go down Laoyatuo, and finally go down along the almost vertical Yinggu Gorge, fully appreciating the unique wonders and steepness of Taihang Mountain.

The first day: Visit the Buddha Shou Pagoda, Tiansheng Bridge and Ten Thousand Buddhas Temple.
Buddha Pagoda in Huguan, Changzhi, Shanxi.
The Buddha Pagoda at Huguan was funded and built by Master Rurui of Mount Wutai (currently the deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Buddhist Association). Enjoy the Guanyin Temple and walk along the ancient road to the east.
There are many cascade waterfalls along the way, and the spectacular scenery of 3,000 feet down is shocking.
Tiansheng Bridge
The natural bridge is a natural stone bridge built by unweathered rocks between the steep cliffs. It is also the largest natural bridge found in northern China so far. The bridge has a span of 50 meters and a width of 2-4 meters. The entire bridge arch is also 280 meters high. It can be called a masterpiece of nature.
Ten Thousand Buddhas Temple. This unhosted temple stands alone on the mountain, facing deep valleys on both sides, and facing the mountains on the other. According to historical records, the earliest construction year of Wanfo Temple can be traced back to the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty. There is only one grotto in the original site, which contains three statues. The temple on the top of the peak was later rebuilt in a different place. The temple now has only a small scale and a stage. with a Buddhist altar still left on the cliff.
Jiguan Peak
Jiguanfeng is known as the first danger of the West Taihang. It is located to the north of Shizui Village in Huguan. It is too steep to discourage many outdoor enthusiasts. Looking at this Cockscomb Peak from a distance, it looks like a sharp sharp knife, and the blade is turned upright. The narrowest part of the blade is less than 10 cm. It cannot stand and can only climb on the side. The vertical height on both sides is nearly 200. On the cliff wall of meters, the blades are undulating and arranged like zigzags, and the mountain breeze blows by from time to time, which makes people feel like they are in desperation.
