North Korean state television has broadcast these unverified images of what it says are drones and bundles of leaflets. Its foreign ministry has called the incident a dangerous provocation - that could escalate into an armed conflict. In response, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said it "cannot confirm‎ the truth of North Korea's claims."

Ties between North and South Korea have reached a new low after Pyongyang rewrote its constitution to call the South a “hostile state”.

North Korea now says tensions have reached “the unpredictable brink of war”.

North Korea is moving towards abandoning its goal of unification by amending its constitution to label South Korea as a “hostile state”.

This comes after North Korea destroyed road and rail links with South Korea.

The issue North Korean soldiers allegedly fighting for Russia has been raised by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Citing a Ukrainian military intelligence source, he says Russia is organising a special battalion that will include about 3,000 North Korean soldiers. Ukraine warns of North Korean troops' arrival: 'The risk is huge'

The Ukrainian foreign minister believes that the arrival of North Korean troops means "a new escalation of the war against Russia".

Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Andri Sibiga, said on Saturday that the involvement of North Korean troops alongside Russia in the war in Ukraine poses a "huge threat" of escalation of the conflict.

 

 

North Korea's growing involvement poses "a huge threat of a new escalation of Russia's war against Ukraine, its intensification and expansion beyond the current limits", he said at a press conference after meeting his French counterpart, Jean-Noel Barrot, in Kiev.
