'Platinum Jubilee LIVE: The Platinum Jubilee Pageant'

Evoking the Coronation at the very start of the Platinum Pageant, the Bells of Westminster Abbey will chime, as they did on Coronation Day.

As they do so, The Mounted Band of the Household Cavalry will lead The Gold State Coach along a crowd-thronged pageant route back to Buckingham Palace. Original film footage recorded on Coronation Day will be used to recreate the magic of that extraordinary occasion.

The Pageant itself will bring to life iconic moments from The Queen’s reign as well as showcasing our changing society over the past 70 years. 10,000 people are involved, including the military, over 6,000 volunteers, performers, key workers and 2,500 members of the public.

National treasures and iconic figures from music, film, sport and the arts will take part in the Pageant including much-loved celebrity names, alongside military personnel, key workers and volunteers.

As the Platinum Jubilee pageant came to its conclusion on Sunday, Queen Elizabeth II made a surprise appearance, walking out on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with members of the Royal Family to wave to the thousands in attendance.

A hologram of the Queen when she was younger had been seen in the windows of the Gold State Coach earlier in the pageant as it paraded down The Mall. It had been previously announced the monarch would not be a part of the pageant, though there were hopes she would make an appearance to wave to the crowds.

The pageant concluded the four days of events marking the monarch's 70-year reign, with more than 10,000 performers taking part in four different acts, each helping tell the story of the Queen's reign.

The Platinum Jubilee RAF flypast boasted 70 aircraft, including helicopters, Typhoons that spelled out the number 70 in the skies, and of course the Lincolnshire-based Red Arrows.

Britain Memorial Flight Avro Lancaster based at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire took part in the Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee too.

The aircraft of the BBMF, two Spitfires, Two Hurricanes, and the sole airworthy Lancaster in Europe thundered down The Mall as a tribute to the Monarch.

Station Commander at Coningsby, Group Captain Matt Peterson said, “Our Sovereign has served our country and Commonwealth in a truly unique way over the last 70 years, seven decades of service is an astounding achievement.

"Alongside all of our service colleagues we are delighted to be paying tribute to Her Majesty today. ”

Squadron Leader Mark Sugden, Officer Commanding the BBMF said, “We are very proud to be participating as we celebrate the Queen’s reign.

"Every time you fly for BBMF it is a privilege, when you take part in important state occasions it is even more so, and the magnitude of today’s event, reflecting her Majesty’s astonishingly dedicated period of service, makes it a momentous, ‘once in a lifetime’ occasion.

The 15 Typhoons paid tribute to The Queen by forming a stunning ‘70’ formation in the sky.
