The Elephant Trunk Hill is a hill, landmark and tourist attraction in Guilin, Guangxi, China. Elephant Trunk Hill is the symbol of the city of Guilin. It got its name because it looks like an elephant drinking water.

Guilin (Standard ZhuangGveilinz), formerly romanized as Kweilin, is a prefecture-level city in the northeast of China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is situated on the west bank of the Li River and borders Hunan to the north. Its name means "forest of sweet osmanthus", owing to the large number of fragrant sweet osmanthus trees located in the region. The city has long been renowned for  its scenery of karst topography.

Guilin is one of China's most popular tourist destinations, and the epithet "By water, by mountains, most lovely, Guilin" (山水甲天下) is often associated with the city. The State Council of China has designated Guilin a National Famous Historical and Cultural City, doing so in the first edition of the list.

In 1981, Guilin was listed by the State Council as one of the four cities (the other three being BeijingHangzhou, and Suzhou) where the protection of historical and cultural heritage, as well as natural scenery, should be treated as a priority project.

Ma Yuan (Chinese馬遠pinyinMǎ YuǎnWade–GilesMa Yüanc. 1160–65 – 1225) was a Chinese painter of the Song dynasty. His works, together with that of Xia Gui, formed the basis of the so-called Ma-Xia (馬夏) school of painting, and are considered among the finest from the period. His works has inspired both Chinese artists of the Zhe school, as well as the early Japanese painters Shūbun and Sesshū.

The picture is at a lake in the cave, the water is so clear and still that it is hard to see the division between the water and the walls.

Mountains pierce the mist like dragon's teeth in this enchanting location. Though it seems like the setting of a fantasy epic, the remarkable Guilin region is quite real, and one of the most popular natural attractions in China. The area is defined by limestone karst features, notably cone-like hills covered in lush greenery, but also craggy caves below the surface. The Li River flows through the jagged landscape, diverted in some places to irrigate rice paddies as seen here
