Following their younger brother, Andy’s premature death from the implications of a viral infection in 1988, Barry, Robin, and Maurice reunited to released One, with a special dedication to Andy, “Wish You Were Here.”

In 2009, Robin announced that he and Barry had agreed the Bee Gees would re-form and perform again.

Robin died in May 2012, aged 62, after a prolonged struggle with cancer and other health problems, leaving Barry as the only surviving member of the group's final line-up.

The 7ft (2m) design has been created by Andrew Edwards,

who previously made statues of The Beatles and Cilla Black in Liverpool.

The base of the statue is in the shape of a record inscribed with lyrics from ‘Ellan Vannin’,

a song the Brothers recorded to raise funds for a Manx charity back in 1997.

The Isle of Man (Manx: Mannin [ˈmanɪnʲ], also Manx: Ellan Vannin [ˈɛlʲan ˈvanɪnʲ]), also known as Mann /mæn/,

is a self-governing British Crown dependency situated in the Irish Sea between Great Britain and Ireland. The head of state, Queen Elizabeth II, holds the title of Lord of Mann and is represented by a lieutenant governor. The United Kingdom has responsibility for the island's defence.

Humans have lived on the island since before 6500 BC. Gaelic cultural influence began in the 5th century AD, and the Manx language,

a branch of the Goidelic languages, emerged. In 627 King Edwin of Northumbria conquered the Isle of Man along with most of Mercia.

Bee Gees' Ellan Vannin ~

The Bee Gees were a pop music group formed in 1958.

Their line-up consisted of brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb.

Born on the Isle of Man to English parents, the Gibb brothers lived in Chorlton, Manchester, England, until the late 1950s.

There, in 1955, they formed The Rattlesnakes.

The family then moved to Redcliffe, in Queensland, Australia, and then to Cribb Island.

After achieving their first chart success in Australia as the Bee Gees with "Spicks and Specks" (their 12th single), they returned to the UK in January 1967, when producer Robert Stigwood began promoting them to a worldwide audience.

Ellan Vannin (the Manx-language name of the Isle of Man)

is a poem and song, often referred to as "the alternative Manx national anthem",

the words of which were written by Eliza Craven Green in 1854

and later set to music by someone called either J. Townsend or F. H. Townend (sources vary).

The Manx-language name Ellan Vannin is commonly mispronounced in renditions of the song, including in the Bee Gees version, since written Manx uses an orthography based on Welsh rather than Irish/Scots gaelic, which does not accurately transcribe the "ʲə" sound found in the word for "island" in spoken Manx Gaelic. The correct pronunciation is [ˈɛlʲən ˈvanɪn].

The Bee Gees Version

The Bee Gees recorded a version for Isle of Man charities  in 1997. They also included the song in their world-tour as a show of pride in the place of their birth.

Ellan Vannin [ˈɛlʲən ˈvanɪn])   Korean  By HG Ryu

When the summer day is over, 여름날이 지나고나면,

Its busy cares have flown,

I will sit beneath the starlight,

With a weary heart alone.

Then it rises like a vision

Sparkling bright it shines for me 찬란한 별빛은 나를 비추네

My own dear Ellan Vannin

With its green hills by the sea

Let me hear the ocean murmur

Let me watch your stormy sky

Then above the emerald waters

Sings the seagull as she flies

Then arising like a vision

Sparkling bright it shines for me 찬란한 별빛은 나를 비추네

My own dear Ellan Vannin

With its green hills by the sea

And in all my times of sorrow

And on some lonely shore

I'll go back to Ellan Vannin

To my childhood days once more 한번 더 내 어린 그 시절로~

Isle Of Man

Covering an area of only 572 km2, the Isle of Man is a Crown dependency of the United Kingdom that is located in the center of the northern Irish Sea between the islands of Ireland and Great Britain.

Where Is The Isle Of Man?

Map of the British Isles with the Isle of Man in the centre.

The Isle of Man is located at almost equal distance from its neighboring countries (approximately 50 km), with Scotland in the north, Wales in the south, England in the east, Northern Ireland in the west,
and the Republic of Ireland in the southwest.

The island of Isle of Man is about 50 km in length and has a maximum width of 22 km. Mountain ranges stretch across the island from north to south and are separated by a well-defined central valley. Situated in the island’s northern part is Mountain Snaefell, the island’s highest point, rising to an elevation of 620 m. The northern plain of the island is comparatively flat and has long sandy beaches, while the island’s coastline has numerous rocky cliffs. Some of the notable rivers in the Isle of Man include the Sulby, Neb, Glass, Baldwin, Dhoo, and Douglas rivers. The most significant bays on the island are Niarbyl Bay, Poolvash Bay, Douglas Bay, Laxey Bay, and Ramsey Bay.

Situated on the eastern coast of the island at the mouth of the Douglas River is Douglas, the capital and the largest town of the Isle of Man. It serves as a major financial, business, commercial, transport, and entertainment hub on the island.
