Mount Robson is the most prominent mountain in North America's Rocky Mountain range; it is also the highest point in the Canadian Rockies. The mountain is located entirely within Mount Robson Provincial Park of British Columbia, and is part of the Rainbow Range. Mount Robson is the second highest peak entirely in British Columbia, behind Mount Waddington in the Coast Range. The south face of Mount Robson is clearly visible from the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 16), and is commonly photographed along this route.

Rearguard Falls is located in Rearguard Falls Provincial Park on the Fraser River in British Columbia. The falls are located 115 km (71 mi) downstream from the river's source at Fraser Pass. This is the farthest point that salmon migrate up the Fraser River to spawn, about 1,260 km (783 mi) from the ocean. A boardwalk is installed on the trail leading from the rest area on Yellowhead Highway to the falls; allowing travellers a close-up view of the falls.

Before it joins the Strait of Georgia near Vancouver, the mighty Fraser River flows about 850 miles through the peaks and valleys of British Columbia. Carving gorgeous gorges, washing over waterfalls, and irrigating fertile, foggy farms, the Fraser is a huge factor in BC's rep as perhaps Canada's most photogenic province. Only 60-odd miles from the river's highland headwaters—and almost 800 miles from the ocean—the pictured Rearguard Falls is the farthest point up the Fraser you'll find spawning salmon that migrate from the Pacific. The rapids appear turquoise due to glacial runoff from adjacent mountains including Mount Robson, the Canadian Rockies' highest peak.
