HONOURED: Hayley Westenra has sung for Prince George.
Christchurch songbird Hayley Westenra says she was honoured to be chosen to sing a lullaby for the royal baby.
During her whirlwind visit to her home town, Westenra toldThe Press, from her parents' home last night, it was a "huge honour" to sing for a "special baby".
Westenra, who was in New Zealand when Prince George was born, had not yet heard from Prince William and Kate Middleton but said she was "not actually expecting to be summoned to the nursery".
The tune,Sleep On, features on Westenra's new album,Hushabye.
The 26-year-old star, who jets out of Christchurch for China on Monday, said it was "always good coming home".
"Christchurch will always be home. I just feel this need to come back.
